Our experience with Brangus began by using Brinks bred bulls on our commercial cows. When the time came for us to add another breed to our Purebred Division, Brangus was an easy decision.
Our Brangus program is focused on producing fertile, sound, performance oriented, fault free cattle that fill the maternal role in our customers’ herds. Our primary goal is to produce high quality bulls for our commercial customers. While we are relatively new to the breed, we are excited by the demand for Brangus bulls.
The Rio Ranch Brangus program is based on the breeds' best known and reliable cow families. Our foundation cows originated from Camp Cooley, Salacoa Valley and Cow Creek. Being based on such proven genetics has established a strong base from which to build on. Our foundation Brangus cow is Ms Brinks Geronimo 535K14, of whom we are proud to be partners with David Wood on. In November of 2007, 535K14 set a Camp Cooley record for being the highest valued female to sell in the history of that historic herd. We are excited about the impact this power cow will have on our program as we have transferred embryos sired by the most talked about bulls in the breed today.
There is little doubt that the Brangus breed is the best option for serious maternal genetics in the Gulf Coast region. Rio Ranch Brangus are selected to thrive in our challenging environment and add performance along the way. Look for our first ET calves to arrive in January of 2014.
